Boiler Steel Tubes

Seamless boiler tubes are specialized types of seamless steel tubes designed for use in boilers and related piping systems that operate under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. These tubes are made from a solid piece of metal through processes like perforation and rolling, resulting in a uniform structure without weld seams. This construction provides enhanced strength and reliability, making them well-suited for extreme environments.

Seamless boiler tubes are primarily used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications due to their superior mechanical properties and resistance to thermal stress and corrosion. They are extensively used in power plants for components like superheater tubes, reheater tubes, and main steam pipes. Additionally, they are employed in the petrochemical industry for pipelines, reactors, and heat exchangers, ensuring safe and efficient operation under harsh conditions.

Specifications of Boiler Steel Tubes

1. Product Name:

Seamless boiler tubes, Seamless boiler pipes, carbon steel boiler tubes, alloy boiler tubes, heat exchanger tubes, high pressure boiler tubes, high temperature boiler tubes

2. Outer diameter and wall thickness:

Usually, the outer diameter of seamless boiler tubes ranges from a few millimeters to several hundred millimeters, and the wall thickness also varies according to different application requirements. For example, in some small-scale boilers, tubes with an outer diameter of 38mm and a wall thickness of 3mm may be used, while in large-scale power plant boilers, tubes with a larger outer diameter and thicker wall, such as 108mm in outer diameter and 10mm in wall thickness, are often employed.

3. Length:

The length of seamless boiler tubes is generally several meters to dozens of meters. Common lengths are 6m, 9m, 12m, etc. The specific length can be customized according to the needs of users and the actual installation requirements of the boiler.

4. Material:

Seamless boiler tubes are usually made of high-quality carbon steel, alloy steel, or stainless steel. Common materials include 20G, 15CrMoG, 12Cr1MoVG, etc. The choice of material depends on the working temperature, pressure, and medium characteristics of the boiler. For example, 20G is suitable for low-and medium-pressure boilers, while 15CrMoG and 12Cr1MoVG are used in high-temperature and high-pressure boilers.

5. Working pressure and temperature:

The working pressure of seamless boiler tubes can range from a few MPa to dozens of MPa. The working temperature can be from low temperature to high temperature, such as - 20℃ to 500℃ or even higher. For example, in a common industrial boiler, the working pressure may be 1.25MPa and the working temperature is about 194℃. In a supercritical power plant boiler, the working pressure can reach 25MPa or more and the working temperature can be as high as 570℃.

Difference Between Heat Exchanger Tubes and Boiler Tubes

Heat exchanger tubes and boiler tubes are both used in thermal systems but serve distinct purposes and operate under different conditions.

1. Function:

Boiler Tubes: Primarily designed to generate steam by transferring heat from combustion gases to water. They are used in boilers, superheaters, and reheaters.

Heat Exchanger Tubes: Used to transfer heat between two fluids without mixing them, commonly in applications like condensers, coolers, and radiators.

2. Operating Conditions:

Boiler Tubes: Operate under high pressure and high temperature, often exposed to steam and combustion gases.

Heat Exchanger Tubes: Operate at varying pressures and temperatures, depending on the fluids involved, but generally less extreme than boiler tubes.

3. Material and Design:

Boiler Tubes: Made from carbon or alloy steels (e.g., ASTM A192, A213) to withstand high stress and corrosion.

Heat Exchanger Tubes: Can be made from carbon steel, stainless steel, or non-ferrous materials (e.g., ASTM A179, A249) depending on the fluid compatibility.

Advantages of Boiler Steel Tubes

  • 01
    Superior Strength and Leak-Proof Performance

Seamless boiler tubes offer superior strength and durability, making them ideal for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. Their seamless construction eliminates weak points, reducing the risk of leaks or failures.

  • 02
    Corrosion-Resistant and Energy-Efficient

They provide excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and thermal stress, ensuring long-term reliability. With uniform wall thickness and smooth surfaces, they enhance heat transfer efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

  • 03
    Multi-Industry Versatility

Additionally, their versatility allows use in various industries, including power generation, petrochemical, and refineries. Seamless boiler tubes are easy to install and maintain, offering cost-effectiveness over their lifecycle.
